Nikkei edges higher as Akazawa seeks tariff exemption for Japan; Wall Street anxious for Apple & Facebook - Mon 28 Apr 2025

Retail giant Fast Retailing (Uniqlo) and Toyota lead gainers as investors continue to return to Japan while Japanese Economic Revitalization Minister Akazawa Ryosei seeks to exempt Japan from tariffs at the start of round 2 of negotiation this Thu.

BOJ will meet this Wed-Thu (30 Apr - 1 May 2025) to discuss monetary policies and is widely believed to keep interest rates unchanged due to tariff headwinds that may rock the economy.

Meanwhile, Wall Street falls slightly as investors stay anxious ahead of Apple and Meta earnings this week.
