All Nippon Airways & Singapore Airlines launch JV with revenue sharing flights & joint fare products

All Nippon Airways (ANA) and Singapore Airlines (SIA) will begin operating revenue-sharing flights between Singapore and Japan from September 2025, with the joint fare products for these services going on sale in May 2025, further deepening their commercial partnership. This will enable ANA and SIA to offer customers additional value beyond the existing codeshare partnerships with a greater variety of fare options, enhanced coordination of flight schedules between Singapore and Japan, and seamless connectivity between the Star Alliance carriers. Both airlines are also working to offer enhanced reciprocal benefits for ANA Mileage Club and KrisFlyer frequent flyer members, including the ability to earn miles on an expanded number of booking classes on ANA and SIA flights. IHI Launches New Bench-Scale Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) Test Rig in Singapore with A*STAR ISCE²

IHI and IHI ASIA PACIFIC PTE. LTD. (“IHI”), in collaboration with the A*STAR Institute of Sustainability for Chemicals, Energy and Environment (“A*STAR ISCE 2 ”) (*1) in Singapore, held an opening ceremony to mark the completion of a Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) (*2) production test rig for CO 2 direct-conversion to liquid hydrocarbons, with a capacity of 5 kg per day. The technology streamlines the process by enabling a single step carbon dioxide direct-conversion to liquid hydrocarbons. Toyota Woven City, a Test Course for Mobility, Celebrates the Completion of Phase 1 Buildings

  Nov 2024 - Toyota Motor Corporation (Toyota) and Joby Aviation (Joby) conducted a successful test flight of Joby's air taxi at Toyota's Higashi-Fuji Technical Center (Shizuoka, Japan). Akio Toyoda, the chairman of the Toyota Group, and Joby CEO and founder, JoeBen Bevirt, were also present to lent support to the test flight. The air taxi can potentially shorten travel time between Tokyo and Shizuoka from 2 hours to 25 minutes. Global commercial passenger operations will start next year with partners, including Uber, Delta Air Lines and ANA, here in Japan. SoftBank's Large-scale “Sunglider” Solar HAPS Aircraft Succeeds in Stratospheric Flight Trial with US Department of Defense and AeroVironment

SoftBank Corp. (TOKYO: 9434, President & CEO: Junichi Miyakawa, “SoftBank”) today announced that its “Sunglider” — a large-scale solar-powered uncrewed aircraft system (“UAS”) designed for High Altitude Platform Station (HAPS) stratospheric telecommunications — was utilized in a field trial conducted by AeroVironment Inc. (NASDAQ: AVAV, “AeroVironment”) and the US Department of Defense (“DoD”) in New Mexico, USA, in early August 2024. During the trial Sunglider succeeded in achieving stratospheric flight. Sunglider is a large-scale UAS for HAPS. It is larger than other publicly announced HAPS UAS*, with a wingspan of 78m and the capability to carry payloads weighing up to 75kg. That means its ability to deliver stable, high-speed and robust high-capacity mobile connectivity is a key feature.
