JPX makes historic change by extending closing hours by 30 minutes from Tues 5 Nov 2024

3 Oct 2024 - In a bid to further improve the international competitiveness of the Japan Exchange Group (JPX) against competing bourses from the likes of NYSE, LSE, HKEX and Nasdaq, JPX will make a historic change, almost greater than any other since the Meiji Restoration, by extending trading hours for the cash equity market by another 30 minutes from Tues, 5 Nov 2024 onwards.

This proposal has been mooted several times over the past 40 years and was finally approved for this 5 Nov's launch.

JPX Cash Equity Market

Current trading hours, JST:  9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and from 12:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. on all days of the week except Saturdays, Sundays and holidays declared by the Exchange in advance.

New trading hours from 5 Nov 2024, JST: 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and from 12:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. on all days of the week except Saturdays, Sundays and holidays declared by the Exchange in advance.
